Agenda

Session Descriptions - Let’s be honest, we know it’s difficult to give up a Saturday. You’re busy with family, sports, laundry, work etc. But we promise attending Team Manager Training will make your job as team manager so much easier! We’ve redesigned trainings this year to be shorter with maximum information provided. You can come in either the morning or the afternoon – whichever makes more sense for your busy schedule.

Team Manager Training is meant to support you through the Destination ImagiNation process, but we can’t assist you to the best of our abilities if you don’t attend. So come by… have some coffee and donuts, meet other team managers and learn what new and exciting things the 09/10 DI year has in store for you and your kids. We are looking forward to meeting you!

Just in case you still need convincing, Colorado Extreme Creativity presents the Top 10 Reasons to Attend Team Manager Training!

1. What is Destination ImagiNation and what the heck have I gotten myself into?

2. The opportunity to learn details about your team’s Team Challenge.

3. Ask important questions to (or just harass) your Challenge Masters.

4. Learn the DI lingo (which can be very confusing to newbies!).

5. You’ll learn in depth what Instant Challenge and Side Trips are.

6. Find out about the new project OUTREACH challenge.

7. Define what the DI Program Season Timeline really is.

8. DI project OUTREACH? Extreme what? Who gets to play and when?

9. Learn what is and isn’t interference and how to avoid the ever awkward parental interference.

and the most important reason for attending Team Manager’s Training….

10. To give your team the very best learning experience you can provide.

RESOURCE AREA FOR TEACHING (RAFT) COLORADO

RAFT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created by teachers, for teachers. Located just a few blocks away from Coors Field with plenty of off-street, free parking, RAFT's mission is to connect teachers with the affordable resources they need to create learning that lasts through interactive experiences.

Our resource center and workshops offer integrated strategies for using inexpensive materials to support science, math, art and literacy curricula.

For example, by signing up for the Science Work Stations workshop this month, you will get practical and inexpensive ideas on how to set up a classroom space where students can investigate a variety of materials and explore the scientific process. By becoming a RAFT member, you can purchase items to stock your work stations - like golf balls, cardboard tubes, wire, magnets, fabric, lab supplies, and assorted types of foam -- for pennies on the dollar. You can also find interactive, pre-packaged activity kits aligned with DPS Science Standards.

Please contact either Stephanie or Dawn for more information - we hope to see you soon!

Vail Resorts Offers Free 5th-6th Grade Passports

Good news comes to 5th and 6th graders who want to ski or ride at the Vail Resorts - Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone], and of course Vail itself - they won't have to pay $99 price tag for the "School of Shred" pass.

"Vail Resorts has always been committed to giving Coloradoans great deals," said Heidi Kercher-Pratt, vice president of Vail Resorts corporate marketing. "That's why we launched the newly named Vail Resorts fifth and sixth grade 'School of Shred' ski program in September to ensure that Colorado students still get the same benefits from Vail Resorts as in years past, just with a new name, a new photo 'easy scan' pass, and a new redemption procedure. Now, we're offering both products free of charge."

You can get a $99 refund by calling (888) 215-3867 if you've already paid for the program.  Fifth graders used to get three days of skiing and riding free at Vail Resort resorts as part of the student ski program through the state's ski resort trade group, Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA).  But because Vail's not with CSCUSA this year, the company added an extra day of skiing at each of its four Colorado ski resorts for a grand total of 16 days on the slopes this year instead of the 12 in previous seasons.

Visit the website or call  (888) 215-3867 for more details.
